Film and Video Game Programme
Just like the most prestigious film festivals like Sitges or San Sebastián, the Fun& Serious Game Festival is organising a series of lectures and panels on a specific topic: video games and film/TV. Video game productions are becoming increasingly similar to films, with mega budgets and star directors, musicians, artists, and performers. Thus, analysing video games and their relations with the film industry from different perspectives is an interesting task.

NOVEMBER 9, Wednesday
Hand in hand: The evolution of video games and their similarities to films. Video games as a source of inspiration for films and vice versa.
Speakers:
- Jaume Balagueró: Acclaimed film director who made REC and has just premiered Sleep tight.
- Fabriciano Bayo: CEO of Virtual Toys, the company that developed Cars 2 in PSP with the support and supervision of Pixar
- Juan Bas: Writer, scriptwriter, and film expert.
- Roberto Serrano, product manager at Koch Media Spain (the firm that developed Dead Island, one of the games of the year which is soon being made into a film).
- Moderator: Alfonso Gómez, Director of the Fun & Serious Game Festival
The closing event will be a lecture by Justin Richmond, the director of one of the most awaited games this year: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (Sony). Mr Richmond will talk about his experience in the development of a game that is bound to become a best-seller this Christmas, about its challenges and achievements. The lecture is expected to draw Uncharted 3 fans by the hundreds to the Guggenheim Bilbao.

The Film and Video Game Programme is for people interested in video games or films, irrespective of their knowledge in the field. Topics will be discussed by leading experts in the video game, film, and literary industries for all kinds of audiences.

The Fun & Serious Game Festival is organising a lecture cycle on “Films and Video Games: Twin Mega Industries.” There will be a panel featuring leading specialists like filmmaker Jaume Balagueró, followed by a spectacular lecture by Justin Richmond, game director of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, who will unveil the secrets in the creation of such a successful and complex big production.

The event is taking place at the Auditorium of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, holding 300 attendees.
